Mark J. Irwin ~ 1954 – 2006 LEXINGTON – An “1860’s” funeral service for Mark Joseph Irwin, 52, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Charles Sipper. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2006 at the funeral home. Mark rests today after a year long battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lymphoma Research Foundation, 111 Broadway – 19th Floor, New York, NY 10006. Mr. Irwin died October 9, 2006. Born May 5, 1954 at Ft. Jackson, SC, he was the youngest son of Bill and Lorena (Fuqua) Irwin of Lexington, SC. His parents are formerly of Brewton, AL. Mark was very proud of his heritage, including American Indian, Scottish (Clan Irwin), and Sons of the Confederacy. He was a member of Wade Hampton Camp 273 in Columbia, SC. He was a member of Ferguson Light Artillery of the South Carolina Palmetto Battalion. Mark enjoyed children by donating his time as Santa at Christmas for Families Helping Families, for the underprivileged, and Children’s Hospital at Palmetto Richland Memorial located in Columbia, SC. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Cynthia Carter Irwin of Lexington; father, Bill Irwin of Lexington; older brother, Edward Irwin of Columbia. |
