- Leonidas Polk - Bishop of Louisiana ~ Lieut. General C.S.A. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, April 10, 1806. Graduated U.S. Military Academy 1827. Ordained to the Episcopal ministry April 9, 1830. Consecrated missionary Bishop of the Southwest in 1838. Became Bishop of Louisiana in 1841. At the outbreak of hostilities, in answer to the call of his country, he accepted apponintment as a Major General in the Army of the Confederate States of America. - Killed in battle at Pine Mt. Ga.
