ELECTIONS RESULTS
~ Tommy Rollings, as Camp Commander . . . . .
~ Layne Waters, as Adjutant
Congratulations to both these men. Let’s give these fellas all of our support for 2006 and keep our Camp
moving forward. Thanks much to outgoing Commander, Jeff O’Cain and Adjutant, Eddie Killian for their hard
work in 2005.
LATEST EVENTS
~ Veterans Day Parade: Thanks to Reggie Miller for filling out the application for
the Camp to participate in the Veterans Day parade in downtown Columbia last November 11. Commander Jeff O’Cain
and Rusty Rentz carried the Camp banner and were followed by several re-enactors. The only ones I know of from
our Camp were Eddie Killian and Bobby Goodwin, but there may have been others. Bobby brought his “12 Pounder Gun”
on a trailer. Commander O’Cain said the parade attracted between 10,000 and 15,000 spectators and he also said
he believes this event is an excellent way to promote the Camp and the SCV to the public. Hope we get a lot more
members to participate in 2006.

Barbeque chicken, roast beef, rice, mashed potatoes, gravy, black-eye peas, green beans, turnip greens, bread,
salad, lemon meringue pie, cake, coffee, and tea. We had over 70 at the meeting. Vittles were excellent,
I enjoyed the chicken and roast beef, really piled the black eye peas high.

~ Don Gordon delivered the “Battle Brief” on Christmas in Charleston in 1863.
He talked about the bold attempt by Confederates to capture the Union gunboat, “Marblehead” on the Stono River.

~ Guest Speaker was South Carolina Division Guardian Chairman, E.M. Clark of the
Lexington Camp. EM had a very interesting slide show on the 28 Confederate Generals buried in this state.
