~ A Preivious Service ~

The service will begin promptly at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, March 20th in Keenan Chapel at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street in Columbia.

The speaker will be William J., (Joe) Long, curator at the S.C. Millitary History and Confederate Relic Room.

Following the service there will be a wreath laying ceremony at Wade Hampton's grave-site, we will be led by our re-enactors and bagpipers to the Wade Hampton esqustrian statue on the State House grounds, where we will honor our hero and taps and tattoo will be sounded with infantry and artillery firing salutes.

Following this ceremony, we will all proceed at four o'clock to Milwood Plantation, where members of the Hampton family will be on hand to welcome us, and there will be plenty of photo opportunities in front of the six ruined columns. Millwood is a hauntingly becautiful place. Trinity Episcopal was the church which Wade Hampton joined us as a boy and remained a member for the rest of his life.

You will hear stirring tributes, sing beautiful music accompanied by young Southern muisicians.

As patriotic South Carolinians and Southerners from our sister states, we are obligated never to forget a man who is undoubtedly South Carolina's geatest Confederate General and also our Governor, who freed South Carolina from cruel horrors of Reconstruction. Later he served two terms as a United States Senator, greatly respected by his peers.

THIS WILL BE AN AFTERNOON TO REMEMBER!
Please be there Compatriots and invite others to come with you!
